Click to run slideshowThe Public Mind Map Tour started in Helsinki. As part of the social responsible design program and the World Design Capital 2012.

Our aim was to find out what creativity means to the people in the citys we visit. The transformed Firetruck was the mediator to attract participants and leaf it up to them what to do.

For the Night of the Arts we invited Kaspar König to organize his famous Slowbiking Race. Accompanied by live sounds and music from Sonja Korkman and Taina Riikoonen the participants were forced to drive as slow as possible on there bikes.

FIREFIT TEAM : Mikko Fritze, Valentin Emil Lubberger, Birgitta Orava, Dida Zende, Hannes Ziegerhofer + everyone who visited us and became part of the process. The FIREFIT PUBLIC MIND MAP TOUR was friendly supported by: Goethe Institut Finnland, Bauhaus Finnland, Bigfish Berlin

01In Espoo we were invited to join the Espoo day on the market place of Karakallio. Kaspar König did another wonderful slowbiking race.

Next day we cooperated with the Helsinki Metropolia University. The students were forced to integrated new ways of Acting & Performance into everyday life.

We like to thank Johanna Vespä and Pilvi Kallio + all of the students for there support and inspiring work.

LahtiOne of the highlights of the tour was the visit of Lahti. Invited by Päivi Ronkainen-Forsius to be part of the Feeling fo wood conference we build a finnish sauna in the back of our FIREFIT.

This work was a cooperation between PRO PUU and FIT. But the creative power behind this project was Sauna luminary Prof. Unto Siikanen  and the brilliant carpenters Päivi Salenius and Tapio Kangasniemi.

Without there dedicated work it would have not been possible to tune the FIREFIT in such a unique manner !

All the material was sponsored by BAUHAUS Finnland.

Next day a lecture was given by Dida Zende at the town hall. Kirsikka Vaajakallio from Aalto University joined with her design students.

We used the Mind Mapping to find out more about there project Rethinking Villa Breda which is one of 12 other projects called 365 wellbeing.

Click to start slideshow VANTAAIn Vantaa we set up our Mobile Creative Force in the pedestrian area. Again the students from Helsinki Metropolia University took part to shake up the audience with unexpected different performance like  automatic poem writing and argument boxing........

This was our last stop alongside the World Design Capital 2012 and we were ready to go on our cosmo spontaneously trip back to the headquarter Berlin through the Baltics.

We like to thank Anne Kaarma and the city of Vantaaa for there support.

t01Because of visa problems with the russian authority we took a ferry straight to Tallinn. Our friend Hurmet-Mihkel Ilus not only hosted us but also invited us to join the smoke sauna of his family.

But before we invited him and his friends to test our mobile sauna.

A creative exchange happend with the group of artists from cosmic underground.

What a unique experience.

Click to run slideshow RigaOf course our main aim, besides meeting people, was finding abandoned gas stations. Our first hit on the way back was in Varga behind the border from Estland to Latvia.

Freshly closed it is waiting to get FIT. Please contact us if u are living in this area.

In Riga we met accidently Agnese Rudzite Kirillova. She works as a  sculptor mostly in steel and ice.

Our host Diga Daga made us feel like home and we enjoyed her hospitality very much.

She gave us a glimpse inside her artistic recreation and showed us around her neighborhood.

daugavpils03After beeing rejected from the Russian visa authority we decide to vist Daugavpils, the second biggest city in Latvia with mostly russians living there.

Not only that we found on the way more abandoned gas stations (actually a nice new station which never opened) also we made friends the night we arrived with Arturs Viksne and Denis Bogdan. 2 engine test driver (no joke) which invited us to a original russian sauna in the garden of Arturs grandmother.

The creative sauna session was a 24hours event supported by russian vodka and fresh prepared food from the garden.

v01We went trough the most beautiful landscace to Vilnius. On the way we stopped by the Lithuanian Museum of Ethnocosmology. A private initiative to collect, accumulate, systematize, preserve, research the information on the relationship of a man and mankind with the Cosmic World.

Next stop was the midpoint of Europe (close to a abandoned gas station).

In Vilnius we met our dear friend Laura Zilionyte who invited us to visit the Waldorf school where she is teaching.

Big thanks goes out to Jovile Mileryte, for her hospitality and her sweetness.

GdanskAfter staying overnight at a abandoned gas station near Gdansk we failed in a friendly takeover of a whole refinery. Well, so we traveled on to the most famous shipyard in the world to pay our respect.

Jolanta Kobryn FIT Dida a haircut.

What lovely people we met all over the baltics. So where is the FIREFIT going next?

Firefit Web Vorne

Clear fire and inspire!

A social design & community art project for the suburbs of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen and Lahti  by Dida Zende. In cooperation with the social responsibility & design project by the Goethe Institute Helsinki. The social sculpture FIREFIT is a mobile extension of the FIT – freie internationale tankstelle. The converted Fire Truck is no longer saving lives but saving the energy of life, the creative spirit as a base for a wide spectrum of creative possibilities. Not tied to a place the FIREFIT communicates the free spirit of creativity. It shows ways to act responsibly in an ever-growing network. The art work floats in a non-defined social space as a casual alternative to communicate.
